Product
The product is the central focus of the ad. It is presented in a stylized, artistic fashion. The shoe seems to shine or almost glow. It contains the Nike swoosh, making product brand known by the viewer.
Text
The only text that is in the ad is at the top left corner, stating "Trainer 1 unleashed 10". The text does very little for the ad. It does not add meaning and it is so small it is hard to read. Considering how much space is available in the corner, the text could be considerably larger without damaging the advertisement.
Imagery
The imagery around the shoe is very interesting and unique. The imagery seems to be tied together with a unifying color scheme of blue and orange. The blues and oranges can be seen throughout the background and reflecting in what seems like shattering glass, ice, or mirror. Behind the broken pieces seems to be an orange 10, which might be a clue as to the type of shoe that is being advertised.
Slogan
There is not slogan present. Typically, Nike has the slogan "Just Do it" but that is not present in the ad. The absence of the slogan doesn't seem to decrease the success of the ad however. It is almost as if the presence of the Nike symbol makes up for the lack of slogan.
Mood
Because of the shattering glass/material, there seems to be a seriousness about the ad. It is as if these shoes can take you through every terrain, even broken glass or ice. The darkness (blacks and blues) of the background also add to the seriousness.
Overall
This is a very visually pleasing ad. The brightness of the orange next to the blues and black seems to catch the viewer's eye. The shattering of the glass with the reflections on the glass add texture and interest. The one thing that is lacks is important information about the product.
Product
The sole of the shoe is shown, but no other view. Considering that most people by shoes based on how they look on the top, not the bottom, this is probably not the best marketing technique. The product brand is shown in the righthand corner, but it is so small, it is hard to see. Considering this brand is not as well known as other brands, it would be wise to broadcast the brand a little bit more.
Text
The only text is "Sole Power" and the word Footlab representing the brand. Sole Power is very large above the product. Considering all we can see is the sole of the shoe, perhaps this makes sense.
Imagery
Around the sole of the shoe there seems to be greenery, such as trees and vines. The background is also green. Mixed in with the vines are a few graphic shapes and elements that add interest.
Slogan
The slogan "Sole Power" seems to emphasize the soles of the shoes. However, the fact that the ad seems to also include "green" elements, it seems like it might be playing off of the concept of "solar power". Perhaps the ad is supposed to appeal to those that are more environmentally friendly.
Mood
There seems to be a tranquility or peacefulness about this ad. Perhaps it is the imagery of trees and vines that contributes to this feeling. Perhaps the soles of the shoes are so natural, it is as if they from nature.
Overall
The imagery of this ad is appealing to the eye, but it may not successful sell the product. As stated earlier, the visual appeal of the tops of the shoes is important to the consumer. There seems to be a lack of information to connect the slogan, the imagery and the product which leaves the consumer puzzled.
